Thomas Kannamala, aka K.M.Thomas has started his journalistic career with Malayala Manorama and joined the Indian Express in 1979 as Reporter. He specialised in crime reporting and investigative reports. He left the Indian Express in 1997 to join the India Today as Special Correspondent.

Thomas started his own news weekly tabloid, Harrington Post in 2002, and was its editor and Publisher till June 2016. He had been contributing news, commentaries and articles to various publications and news agencies including Bombay Midday, IANS, and Southern Features. During 2009-10, he assisted the Tamil Nadu police to edit a book on 100 years of Crime Branch CID.

Thomas was the president of Madras Press Club for three terms. He was a guest teacher of journalism course at several colleges in Chennai, St. Antony’s College, Meghalaya, and had organised media workshops in the Madras Press Club.

His facto-fictional novel News Chase -thrills, frills & perils of news reporting  was published in April1998 (Amazon) and Indian edition in July 2019.
